  Esta breve biografía académica del autor pretende analizar los cambios que se produjeron en el campo de la historia de Canarias tras su nombramiento como catedrático de la Universidad de La Laguna.

  Para ello, se intentará valorar su contribución a aspectos clave del quehacer del historiador, como la teoría y la metodología, la profesionalización y la institucionalización de la disciplina y las áreas y materias de estudio desarrolladas. En definitiva, el texto pretende destacar el legado de Serra a la historiografía canaria y reivindicar su figura como padre de la disciplina.

  : This brief academic biography of the author aims to analyse the changes that took place in the field of History after his appointment as professor at the University of La Laguna. To this end, it will attempt to assess his contribution to key aspects of the historian's work, such as theory and methodology, the professionalisation and institutionalisation of the discipline and the areas and subjects of study developed. In short, the text aims to highlight Serra's legacy to Canarian historiography and to vindicate his figure as the father of the discipline.
