    Este trabajo analiza el poemario Ángel en el País del Águila de Ángel Martínez Baigorri (1899-1971). Publicado por primera vez en España (1954), más tarde quedaría recogido en el volumen Poesías completas I, en edición de Emilio del Río (1999). Se estudia su génesis (durante la estancia del poeta en Estados Unidos, entre agosto de 1946 y finales de 1947), su estructura (externa e interna) y los temas (además de la descripción de algunas ciudades estadounidenses como Nueva Orleans y Nueva York, el tema nuclear es la lucha del Ángel –‘el mundo del espíritu’– por entrar dentro del Águila –‘el mundo material’– e insuflarle nueva y más alta vida).

    This paper analyses the collection of poems Ángel en el País del Águila by Ángel Martínez Baigorri (1899-1971). Published for the first time in Spain (1954), it would later be included in the volume Poesías completas I, edited by Emilio del Río (1999). Its genesis is studied (during the poet’s stay in the United States of America, between August 1946 and the end of 1947), and also its structure (the external and the internal one) and the topics (in addition to the description of some American cities such as New Orleans and New York, the nuclear theme is the struggle of the Angel –‘the world of the spirit’– to enter into the Eagle –‘the material world’– and breathe new and higher life into it).
