Resumen de Análisis conceptual y desarrollo constructivo del templo franciscano de San Agustín de Almería

  El regreso de la orden franciscana a la ciudad de Almería en el primer tercio delsiglo XX tras el exilio provocado por las desamortizaciones decimonónicas, se conllevará laerección de un complejo de nueva planta ejecutado en un barrio obrero de la ciudad en fasede urbanización. Debido al hallazgo de los planos originales del templo y de la residenciaanexa se han podido confirmar las proporciones y el estilo artístico del complejo según la ideaoriginal concebida por el arquitecto almeriense Guillermo Langle Rubio para el mismo. Laconstrucción quedó paralizada por los avatares del periodo bélico español cuando solo faltabala coronación de la torre campanario, llegando a desempeñar diferentes funciones como fue lade albergar al Ateneo Libertario durante los años de la contienda. Constituida como parroquiaa primero de marzo de 1947 por decreto del obispo Enrique Delgado se inicia una obra únicadentro de los templos almerienses durante el siglo XX y que este trabajo pretende dar a cono-cer: el cambio de orientación del templo articulado sobre la bóveda y la ampliación del mismo,doblando la superficie del templo original.

  The return of the Franciscan Order to the city of Almería in the first third of thetwentieth century, following the exile which resulted from the nineteenth-century disentail-ment, is to lead to the erection of a newly built complex in a working-class area in the courseof development. Through the discovery of the original plans of the church and of the adjoiningliving quarters it has been possible to confirm the dimensions and the artistic style of thecomplex, according to the original idea conceived for it by the architect Guillermo LangleRubio, a native of Almería. The building process was brought to a halt by the vicisitudes ofthe period of the Spanish Civil War, at a point when all that remained to be done was the com-pletion of the bell tower, and the building came to fulfil various functions such as housing thepeople’s cultural centre during the years of the conflict. Established as the centre of a parishat the beginning of March 1947 by decree of Bishop Enrique Delgado, it saw the beginningof a project unique in the twentieth century among the churches of Almería, one on whichthe present study is intended to provide information: the change of orientation for the churcharticulated on the vault and the increase in the church’s size, doubling the surface area of theoriginal construction.
