    En este artículo presentamos una revisión crítica sobre la trascendencia de la aportación teórica del arquitecto Melvin Villarroel Roldán para comprender la configuración, la imagen e idiosincrasia del paisaje urbano y arquitectónico de la Costa del Sol.

    Para ello fundamentaremos nuestro discurso en la capacidad de ensoñación gráfica empleada por Villarroel, gracias a la cual, fue capaz de definir un lenguaje propio sobre el que se ha vertebrado buena parte de la singularidad atmosférica y fenológica de la costa marbellí.

    Su habilidad en el empleo del dibujo, utilizado como herramienta técnica para la resolución de conflictos técnicos o espaciales y, en paralelo, como mecanismo desde donde desplegar estrategias para la promoción y el marketing de su arquitectura, le otorgó la capacidad para adjudicarse encargos que, pasadas varias décadas, vaticinan la transformación del paisaje y la tipología de este enclave geográfico.

    In this paper we present a critical review of the significance of the theoretical contribution of the architect Melvin Villarroel Roldán to understand the configuration, image and idiosyncrasy of the urban and architectural landscape of the Costa del Sol.

    For this, we will base our discourse on the graphic capacity used by Villarroel, thanks to which he was able to define his own language on which part of the atmospheric and phenological singularity of the Marbella coast has been structured.

    His ability in the use of drawing, as a technical tool for the resolution of technical or spatial conflicts and, in parallel, as a mechanism from which to work strategies for the promotion and marketing of his architecture, gave him the ability to be awarded commissions that demonstrate the transformation of the landscape and the typology of this geographical place.
