The mobility of people and goods consumesa significant amount of resources. To minimizethis consumption, new traffic management systemsbased on the Smart Cities paradigm have beenproposed. These systems require collecting and distributingas much information about road conditionsas possible. Traditionally, this information collectionwas carried out by means of passive elements, typicallyby coils or road side cameras. In previous works,we have proposed to use a Vehicular Delay TolerantNetwork (VDTN) to collect and distribute this information. However, achieving a fair comparison betweendifferent DTN solutions in an urban environmentis not easy. In this paper we present a genericDTN model that we use to compare various representativeDTN solutions in an urban scenario. Wehighlight the weak and strong points of each evaluatedproposal.
