    La comarca catalana de la Noguera (situada en torno a Balaguer) tiene una gran geodiversidad. En efecto, parte de la comarca se halla situada en la Depresión Geológica del Ebro, entre afloramientos de los materiales del Eoceno y del Oligoceno, fundamentalmente. Al mismo tiempo, los sectores septentrionales de la comarca se sitúan dentro del Sistema Pirenaico, entre afloramientos de los materiales mesozoicos del Triásico, del Jurásico y del Cretácico. Por otra parte, estos últimos, se distribuyen éntrelas denominadas Sierras Marginales Pirenaicas y el Manto del Montsec, ya en el norte de la comarca.Al mismo tiempo, esta geodiversidad ha motivado la existencia de diferentes explotaciones mineras, distribuidas por toda la comarca, fundamentalmente por los sectores pirenaicos.Estas características, han motivado la existencia de un rico patrimonio geológico (con diversos LIGdistribuidos por toda la zona) y de un abundante patrimonio minero (con diversos LIPM).Pues bien, como ocurre que algunos de los municipios septentrionales de la comarca (Àger, Camarasa y Vilanova del Meià) forman parte del Geoparc de la Conca de Tremp – Monsec (por hallarse dentro de esta última estructura), ello ha motivado que otros municipios de la comarca intentaran entrar en el citado geoparque. Sin embargo, ello no será posible, de momento. Por esta razón se ha optado por la creación del Parc Geològic i Miner de la Noguera, adoptándose una propuesta de vinculación al citado geoparque.

    The Catalan region of La Noguera (located around Balaguer) has a great geodiversity. In fact, part of the region is located in the Geological Depression of the Ebro, between outcrops of Eocene and Oligocene materials, mainly. At the same time, the northern sectors of the region are located within the Pyrenean System, between outcrops of the Mesozoic materials of the Triassic, the Jurassic and the Cretaceous. On the other hand, the latter, are distributed under the so-called Phrenic Marginal Sierras and the Mantle of Montsec, already in the north of the region.At the same time, this geodiversity has motivated the existence of different mining exploitations, distributed throughout the region, mainly by the Pyrenean sectors. These characteristics have motivated the existence of a rich geological heritage (with various LIG distributed throughout the area) and an abundant mining heritage (with various LIPM).Well, as it happens that some of the northern municipalities of the region (Àger, Camarasa and Vilanova de Meià) are part of the Geopark of the Conca de Tremp - Monsec (for being within this last structure), this has motivated other municipalities of the region will try to enter the aforementioned geopark. However, this will not be possible, at the moment. For this reason it has opted for the creation of Parc Geològic i Miner de la Noguera, adopting a proposal to link to the aforementioned geopark.
