Resumen de La cadena de custodia de madera certificada según el sistema PEFC

Recientemente han surgido distintas iniciativas de certificación de la gestión forestal sostenible y de la cadena de custodia de la madera certificada a través de la industria. Este último proceso puede tener grandes repercusiones sobre la industria de la madera, por lo que CONFEMADERA -Confederación Española de Empresarios de la Madera- participa activamente en él.
En esta ponencia se analiza la cadena de custodia del sistema PEFC (Pan-European Forest Certification) que junto con el FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) son los dos sistemas de importancia en España. Para introducir el tema se explican aspectos generales sobre certificación y sobre lo que se debe exigir a estos sistemas, ya que es muy importante tener en cuenta que la certificación es un proceso voluntario y que el industrial que desee certificarse debe elegir el sistema que se acople mejor a sus características.

Recently several certification initiatives of sustainable forest management and the chain of custody of certified wood through the industrial processes have emerged. CONFEMADERA –Spanish Confederation of Woodworking Industries- participates actively in this last aspect due to the great repercussion that it may have on the woodworking industries.
On this communication the PEFC (Pan-European Forest Certification) chain of custody process is analyzed. The only relevant certification systems in Spain are the PEFC and the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council). To introduce the topic, general aspects and what should we demand to certification systems is explained. It is important to know that forest and Chain of Custody certifications are voluntary processes, and that the industry that wants to be certified should choose the system that satisfies most its characteristics.
