Pastures grazed by dairy cattle, from Nardus stricta, Festuca eskia and Festuca nigrescens ofthe subalpine belt of the National Park of Aigüestortes and Estany de Sant Maurici weresampled during the summer of 2006. Using the point quadrat method (analysis for frequencies)in field and the separation for weight in the laboratory, parameters related to the forage qualitylike (Pastoral Value-VP - and Forage unit - UF-), floristic diversity (richness and Shannonindex) and production were calculated. The results show an influence of the vegetable community on the parameters of diversity. Thisway, the number of species grouped (p <0,001) the communities of the following form: F. eskia(group b), F. nigrescens and N. stricta (group a). The Shannon index presented significantdifferences between communities also. In the analysis by frequencies (p <0,005), the followinggroups were differentiated: F. eskia (a), F. nigrescens (ab) and N. stricta (a), whereas for theanalysis by weight (p< 0,005) the groups were: F. eskia (b), F. nigrescens and N. stricta (a).The linear relation between the variables of diversity (number of species and Shannon index)and the Pastoral Value was high, obtaining values of R2 corrected of 0,8 for VP-S and 0,7 forVP-H ’ in the analysis by frequencies.
