Coexistencia y diversidad tecnica, textural y formal en los textiles de un fardo perteneciente al sitio Coyo de San Pedro de Atacama

    La oportunidad de participar en el desfardamiento de un cuerpo (N° 5382) realizado por la Misión Conklin en 1995, que había sido encontrado por el R.P. LePaige el año 1975 en Coyo Oriente, nos permitió registrar y observar las distintas capas de textiles que lo conformaban. Las evidentes diferencias entre ellas y la identificación de la túnica exterior, con características técnicas e iconográficas propias de la cultura Tiwanaku, hacen del estudio de este fardo una ocasión poco habitual e interesante para documentar las costumbres locales reflejadas en este ajuar funerario. El análisis nos da la posibilidad de acercarnos al personaje e iniciar un trabajo de seguimiento de la recurrencia de este patrón de enterratorio. Se presentan todas las prendas textiles existentes que pertenecieron a este fardo, en especial las tres túnicas que definen su particularidad

    In 1975, a body wrapped in several layers of textiles was found in the Coyo Oriente Cemetery by R.P. Le Paige. In 1995, we were given the opportunity to participate in the unwrapping of the body along with Misión Conklin. This allowed us to observe and record the distinct layers of textiles that composed the funerary bundle. The obvious differences between the layers and the identification of the exterior tunic, containing Tiwanaku techniques and iconography, made this study a rare and interesting occasion to document the local customs reflected in the bundle. This analysis has furthered our understanding of the identity of this person and the recurrence of this burial pattern. All the existing textiles that belong to this bundle, including the three tunics which define it, are presented
