Resumen de La alta edad media peninsular según los trabajos de Claudio Sánchez Albornoz: Entre práctica historiográfica, saber científico y construcción identitaria (1944-1958)

En el presente trabajo se analiza la producción científica del medievalista español Claudio SánchezAlbornoz publicada entre 1944 y 1958 en los Cuadernos de Historia de España. Se trata de una producción elaborada en un periodo de madurez intelectual y de asentamiento en el país de acogida en el que es posible constatar el interés por cinco temas centrales: el desarrollo del método histórico; las estructuras del reino visigodo y su desaparición tras la conquista musulmana; el surgimiento del reino de Asturias; los orígenes del condado de Castilla y el reino de Navarra y los debates en torno al ser de España. Los textos reflejan la profunda imbricación entre las problemáticas científicas analizadas por el autor, la manera en que ello se convirtió en un mecanismo de legitimación intelectual y política en el exilio y, en fin, en una manera de re-pensar su trayectoria y de repensar la historia y el ser de España.

This paper analyzes the scientific production of the Spanish medievalist Claudio Sánchez-Albornoz published between 1944 and 1958 in the Cuadernos de Historia de España review. It is a production made in a period of intellectual maturity and settlement in the host country in which it is possible to verify the interest in five central themes: the development of the historical method; the structures of the Visigothic kingdom and its disappearance after the Muslim conquest; the rise of the kingdom of Asturias; the origins of the county of Castilla and the kingdom of Navarra and the debates about being from Spain. The texts reflect the deep intertwining between the scientific problems analyzed by the author, the way in which this became a mechanism of intellectual and political legitimation in exile and, finally, a way of rethinking his career and rethinking the history and being of Spain
