    Brazil and the European Union occupy prominent positions in the global scenario of international relations, aswell as they represent a relevant and strategic political and economic partnership. Therefore, this study aimsto conduct a comprehensive analysis of the Brazil - European Union relationship in the political, economic andsocial spheres, taking the Iberian Peninsula as reference. Moreover, from a structural and global conjunctureanalysis, to identify and highlight political-economic elements that may influence the development ofagricultural engineering in the next 5 years. With a holistic approach to the theme, the introduction addressesthe importance of agricultural engineering and agricultural development, connecting these elements to Braziland the European Union, in addition to highlighting the objectives of this work. In the first section, thehistorical relations Brazil - European Union and, later, Brazil-Iberian Peninsula were briefly analyzed. In thesecond section, a survey was prepared on the perspective of treaties, agreements and summits that promoteintegration between the stakeholders. Subsequently, an economic analysis of the effects of Brazil-EuropeanUnion integration was carried out for both, using databases of States and International Institutions on items such as Gross Domestic Product (GDP), balance of payments and foreign trade. Forthwith, summarizing theabove information, it is clarified how all these factors together can directly affect the Agricultural Engineeringsector. To this end, it was drawn a study of the specific economic aspects of agribusiness, as well as a study onthe technical and cultural exchanges, to contemplate the issues addressed in the Congress itself. Ultimately,through an analysis of the current global scenario, both in conjuncture and structure, we built conclusions forthe current moment and for the perspectives of the agricultural engineering advance. Thus, it was possible tovalidate the hypothesis that strengthening the links between the Brazilian State and the European Unionwould be beneficial and crucial to the mutual scientific and technological advance, especially in what concernsagricultural engineering.

    Brasil e União Europeia ocupam posições de destaque no cenário global das relações internacionais, assimcomo representam relevante e estratégica parceria política e econômica. Dessa forma, o presente trabalhoobjetiva realizar uma ampla análise da relação Brasil – União Europeia nas esferas política, econômica e social,tomando a Península Ibérica como referencial. Além disso, à partir de uma análise estrutural e de conjunturaem âmbito global, identificar e destacar elementos político-econômicos que poderão influenciar odesenvolvimento da Agroengenharia nos próximos cinco anos. Com abordagem holística ao tema, aintrodução trata da importância da Agroengenharia e do desenvolvimento agrícola, conectando esseselementos ao Brasil e à União Europeia, além de destacar os objetivos deste trabalho. Na primeira seção, foirealizada uma breve análise do histórico das relações entre Brasil-União Europeia e, posteriormente, Brasil-Península Ibérica. Na segunda seção, foi elaborado um levantamento de informações acerca da perspectiva detratados, acordos e cúpulas que promovem a integração entre as partes. Posteriormente, foi feita uma análiseeconômica dos reflexos da integração Brasil-União Europeia para ambas as partes, utilizando-se de bancos dedados de Estados e Instituições Internacionais acerca de itens como Produto Interno Bruto (PIB), balança depagamentos e Comércio Exterior. Em seguida, fazendo uma síntese das informações supracitadas, se esclarececomo todos estes fatores em conjunto podem afetar diretamente o setor de Engenharia Agrícola. Para tanto,elabora-se um estudo dos aspectos econômicos específicos do agronegócio, além de um estudo sobre ointercâmbio técnico-cultural. Finalmente, por meio de uma análise do atual cenário global, tantoconjunturalmente quanto estruturalmente, foram construídas conclusões para o momento atual e para asperspectivas de avanço da Agroengenharia. Assim, foi possível validar a hipótese de que a continuidade efortalecimento dos vínculos entre o Estado brasileiro e a União Europeia seria benéfico e crucial para o mútuoavanço científico e tecnológico, em especial no que concerne à Agroengenharia.
