La traducción de los Diarios de Virginia Woolf (1915-1941), cuya edición completa no se había realizado nunca en castellano, supone un intenso desafío por la complejidad verbal y biográfica de la autora. Aunque estos escritos se imaginaron como un registro de hechos, no de sentimientos, durante el proceso de escritura, la línea entre lo fáctico y lo emocional se fue borrando hasta alcanzar la vida entera y los detalles menores y hasta invisibles de la existencia. Son un mosaico fascinante de escritores, pintores, críticos, reformadores sociales, economistas y políticos decisivos e imprescindibles para entender no solo la literatura y el arte entre la segunda década del siglo XX y la Segunda Guerra mundial, sino también las transformaciones sociales y políticas de ese convulso periodo. La traducción castellana se basa en la edición en cinco volúmenes realizada por Anne Olivier Bell (sobrina política de Virginia Woolf) a partir de los originales: treinta cuadernos que, desde 1979, se conservan en la Biblioteca Pública de Nueva York.

The translation into Spanish of Virginia Woolf's Diaries (1915-1941), the complete edition of which has never before been published in Spanish, represents an intense challenge due to the verbal and biographical complexity of the author. Although these writings were imagined as a record of facts (not feelings), the line between the factual and the emotional was blurred during the writing process until it reached the whole of life as well as the minor, even invisible details of existence. These diaries are a fascinating mosaic of writers, painters, critics, social reformers, economists and politicians who were decisive and essential for understanding not only literature and art between the second decade of the 20th century and the Second World War, but also the social and political transformations of that turbulent period. The Spanish translation is based on the five-volume edition produced by Anne Olivier Bell (Virginia Woolf's niece-in-law) from the originals: thirty notebooks which, since 1979, have been preserved in the New York Public Library.
