Resumen de Literatura ética y estética: lecturas solidarias y educación

Ante el reto de la lectura en el siglo XXI, esta Comunicación dirige su mirada hacia los millones de niñas y niños a los que se priva del derecho a leer, entre otros muchos despojos de la desigualdad y de la injusticia en el mundo. Desde la solidaridad con las víctimas, defiende el uso de la literatura como un buen recurso de la educación moral, al unísono con la educación lingüístico-literaria, de nuestros niños y jóvenes. Sin rehuir la polémica de la nefasta instrumentalización de la literatura para fines didácticos, afirma la esencia moral de la mejor literatura, a la vez que condena la pseudoliteratura moralizante. En definitiva, aboga por las obras que, con gran exigencia y calidad estética, apelan a la conciencia ética y al compromiso. Se establecen y describen distintas estrategias didácticas para abordar esta tarea y se presenta una Selección de 40 “Lecturas solidarias”, elegidas por su calidad literaria y su elevado contenido ético. Son poemas y relatos breves con el fin de facilitar el intercambio y las propuestas de trabajo en el aula. Se agrupan en dos niveles educativos, de acuerdo con la adecuación general de los textos elegidos a la Educación Primaria y a la Educación Secundaria.

In the face of the challenge of reading in the 21st century, this paper considers the millions of children who are deprived of their right to read, amongst other injustices in this unequal and unfair world. Showing solidarity with the victims, it promotes the use of literature as an excellent resource for moral as well as linguistic and literary education for our children and youth. Without ignoring the deplorable misuse of literature exclusively for didactic purposes, it reaffirms the moral essence of the best literature whilst condemning moralizing literature. In brief, it defends those literary works, which appeal to the ethic conscience and compromise whilst being of high standing and aesthetic quality. The paper seeks to establish and describe various didactic strategies to carry out this task. It also presents a Selection of 40 “Readings for Solidarity” chosen for their literary quality and outstanding ethic content. They are poems and short stories aimed at facilitating their exchange and exploitation in the classroom. They are grouped in two educational levels, according to their suitability for either Primary or Secondary Education.
