Resumen
Mettendo al centro delle sue opere il tema della filiazione, lo scrittore invita a riflettere su come esilio, migrazioni e sradicamenti portino a riconsiderare il concetto di identità. La relazione con la madre, che si declina sulla scena nella dialettica tra presenza della voce / assenza del corpo, rimanda, inoltre, a livello simbolico, alla relazione con le origini geografiche e con l’eredità familiare di cui la madre è depositaria, eredità presente ed insieme assente per un migrante.The Mother’s Word in Wajdi Mouawad’s PlaysBy focusing on the theme of filiation, the playwright urges us to reflect on how exile, migration and displacement lead to a reconsideration of identity. The relationship with the mother is played out on the stage as a presence of the voice / absence of the body dialectic and symbolically foregrounds the relationship with one’s geographical origins and with the family inheritance stored by the mother‒ an inheritance which is both presence and absence for migrants.
