    This paper will focus on the contemporary historiography of Phoenician-Punic religion in North Africa by considering (1) the historical background, paying particular attention to colonial and post-colonial processes, (2) the progressive consolidation of Phoenician-Punic studies, and (3) the theoretical and methodological framework employed in studies on ancient religions and analyses of the archaeological, epigraphic and iconographic sources.

    Cette contribution se propose d’analyser l’historiographie contemporaine sur la religion phénico-punique d’Afrique du Nord, en prenant en compte (1) la situation historique, avec une attention particulière aux processus coloniaux et postcoloniaux ; (2) l’affirmation progressive des études phénico-puniques ; (3) le cadre théorique et méthodologique dans lequel les études historico-religieuses, d’une part, et archéologiques, épigraphiques et iconographiques, de l’autre, se sont développées.
