El daño cerebral sobrevenido aparece de forma abrupta y afecta a todo o parte del encéfalo dejando lesiones objetivables. El trabajo sobre las secuelas que se da en la fase subaguda de evolución con distintos profesionales sanitarios va logrando objetivos de mejora.
El momento en el que el equipo multidisciplinar que trabaja con el paciente con Daño Cerebral Traumático comienza a decidir el alta, uno de los primeros pasos es empezar a comunicar al afectado y a la familia. Aunque generalmente se trata de ingresos largos y las familias necesitan volver a sus rutinas habituales, en ocasiones y según el grado de deterioro del paciente, esta perspectiva genera ansiedad y preocupación. Es importante valorar cómo se afronta la vuelta al hogar.
