  • Resumen
    • Slope movements in Villafufre area (Cantabria) clearly respond to a climatic triggering factor. Landslides are distributed in the upper-middle part of slopes, and are possibly connected with piping developed in Keuper facies. In this paper the influence on the development of piping of the existing fracture network in the rock mass is analysed, in addition to the role of these features in landslide development. A geomorphological study, employing field and photointerpretation techniques, to identify piping lines was carried out. Also, using remote sensing techniques on satellite images, natural lineations have been identified and their correlation with the existing fracture network in the rock mass was analysed in a GIS. The natural lineations identified in the satellite images are correlated with the piping, and with rupture zones present on the slopes. Piping has a statistical relationship with the fracture network, whilst most of the rupture zones are linked to piping.
