Resumen de Darreres novetats al Molí d’Espígol (Tornabous, Urgell): La intervenció de l’1% cultural de l’any 2013

El Molí d’Espígol (Tornabous, Urgell) is one of the most important iberian settlements in western Catalonia. It has been studied since the 70s, but the fi nancial problems that often accompany the archaeological heritage have made the site a victim of abandonment and degradation of the remains dug up. In order to curb this situation and retake research on the town, in 2013 a performance to investigate and recover archaeological heritage was carried out, as part of the Cultural 1%. Here are an overview of the results of this intervention, which show again that the importance of el Molí d’Espígol is evident as an ilergetian center of power, while emphasizing its origins as a fortress in the Early Iron Age.

El Molí d’Espígol (Tornabous, Urgell) és un dels jaciments ibèrics més important de les terres de Ponent i, per extensió, de Catalunya, i ha estat objecte d’estudi des dels anys 70. Amb l’objectiu de frenar aquesta situació i reprendre la recerca sobre el poblat, l’any 2013 es va dur a terme una actuació arqueològica i de recuperació patrimonial, emmarcada en l’1% cultural. A continuació presentem una síntesi dels resultats d’aquesta intervenció en què, de nou, es fa palesa la importància del Molí d’Espígol com a nucli de poder ilerget, tot fent èmfasi en els seus orígens com a fortalesa durant la primera edat del ferro.
