• This work aims to structure the gas carrier fleet in service in December 2019. The structure is made con-sidering as most descriptive parameters the following factors: deadweight, gross tonnage, age, powerinstalled by main engines and flag of registration.The structure is made separating the LPG ships and the LNG ships due to the differences existingbetween these two types of gas carrier, going from different dimensions until different trading followedby the LNG and LPG ships.The structure of the gas carrier fleet made in this work may be used as a starting point for developingother metrics that helps to describe deeper the LNG and the LPG carriers and, the structure can be usedin other analysis related to the gas fleet
