Resumen de Un proyecto para la creación de un centro de interpretación paleontológica y arqueológica en Tamajón (Guadalajara, España)

  En los últimos años, varios hallazgos paleontológicos y arqueológicos de gran relevancia científica y educativa han enriquecido el excepcional patrimonio natural y cultural de Tamajón (Guadalajara, España). Estos descubrimientos han motivado la creación de un equipo multidisciplinar en la Universidad de Alcalá que, con la colaboración de especialistas de otras instituciones, y en coordinación con el Ayuntamiento de la localidad y la Diputación de Guadalajara, está diseñando el “Centro de Interpretación Paleontológica y Arqueológica de Tamajón” (CIPAT). En él, los estudiantes y el público en general accederán al conocimiento del pasado de la región, a través de tres áreas de exposición y didáctica. El Área Paleontológica explorará la diversidad de la vida costera y marina que habitó la región durante el Cretácico superior, destacando los cocodrilomorfos, los dinosaurios y los peces (identificados a través de sus icnitas), y los restos de plantas y de invertebrados. El Área Arqueológica mostrará el Paleolítico superior, a través de los restos y artefactos humanos (de neandertales y sapiens) y de la fauna que éstos conocieron durante la última glaciación. Asimismo, en el Área Didáctica se realizarán actividades educativas innovadoras, como parte de los objetivos y la función del futuro Centro de Interpretación.

  Over the past few years, several palaeontological and archaeological findings of great scientific and educational relevance have contributed to enrich the exceptional natural heritage of Tamajón (Guadalajara, Spain). These new discoveries have motivated the creation of a multidisciplinary team at the University of Alcala, along with the collaboration of specialists from other institutions. This team, coordinated with the local Council and the Deputation of Guadalajara, is designing the “Palaeontological and Archaeological Interpretation Centre of Tamajón” (CIPAT), where the students and the general public, through the exposition and didactic areas, can have access to the past of the region. The Palaeontological Area, will explore the diversity of the coastal and the marine life that dominated the region during the Upper Cretaceous, highlighting crocodylomorphs, dinosaurs and fishes (identified by their ichnites), and the fossil remains of plants and invertebrates. The Archaeological Area will be focused on the Upper Palaeolithic throughout the discovery of human remains (neanderthals and sapiens), their artefacts and the fauna they cohabitated with during the last glaciation. Moreover, in the Didactics Area innovative educational activities will be developed as part of the objectives and purpose of the future Interpretation Centre.
