  Després de l’idil·li dramàtic La nit al bosc (1883), Apel·les Mestres no enllestí cap altre llibret per al teatre fins a l’any 1901, quan Enric Morera li demanà una peça que pogués ser representada a la seva empresa personal, el Teatre Líric Català, establert al Tívoli durant els mesos de gener i febrer de 1901. Per aconseguir-ho, Mestres va haver de recórrer a una poesia ja escrita i fins i tot publicada, «La Rosons», un dels Poemesde mar (1900). L’accelerat procés d’adaptació del poema a l’escena queda reflectit al manuscrit núm. 1 del Fons Pellicer de l’Arxiu Joan Abelló de Mollet del Vallès. Seguirem l’evolució de la tendència lírica d’Apel·les Mestres fins a l’any 1913, a través de la descripció del fons documental de l’esmentat Arxiu.

  After the dramatic idyll La nit al bosc (1883), Apel·les Mestres did not complete any further librettos for thestage until 1901, when Enric Morera asked him to produce a work to be performed at his personal undertaking, the Teatre Líric Català, established at the Tívoli in January and February of 1901. To comply, Mestres resorted to a poem that he had already written, and published, “La Rosons,” from Poemes de mar (1900). The rapid process of adapting the poem to the stage can be seen in manuscript no. 1 from the Pellicer collection at the Joan Abelló Archive in Mollet del Vallès. We follow the development of Apel·les Mestres’ lyrical output until 1913 through the description of the document collection at this archive.
