  • The growing interest that has been given to diplomatic documentations in the past two decades has brought forth “schools”, editions of letters and correspondence, symposiums and dedicated publications. The analysis of this sources is showing its inherent interdisciplinary potentialities. Taking the production of the past three years as a starting point and focusing on four recent editions and two collections of essays, this paper will highlight methods and problems of such a research strand. While letters are extraordinary information deposits, they can also be a labyrinth where one must not lose his way
