  • Determining the location in where rocky massif breaks and generates rockfalls and rocks avalanches has a special interest in slope instability studies or in hazards analysis. These places are located in the intersection of different structural lineations such as stratification, fractures or the combination of both; often in inaccessible places and steep reliefs. The application, in a combined way of remote sensing techniques with high resolution images and geomorphological tools allow us identifying structural lineations in these contexts. This methodological approach has been applied in the unstable area Ajanedo, Miera Valley (Cantabria). The area is characterized by the existence of a carbonate massif densely fissured by two tectonic accidents; inaccessible and steep slopes and many active rockfalls and rock avalanches. Results show spatial correlation between lineaments, main fracture sets and rupture areas in the slope processes.
