    • The European Union strategic plan is to develop its societies by focusing on higher education quality and commitment to the community. This article aims to analyse EU higher education policies concerning quality and commitment within the European Education Area 2025. Therefore, it provides an empirical review of 16 documents on the social and cultural dimensions of the EU between 2015-2020 by analysing the discourses (Wetherell & Potter, 1988) about the European Education Area 2025, concerning quality and social commitment in higher education. The conclusions reveal that the European Education Area 2025 promotes higher quality via a more socially committed approach to higher education aligned with the shared values enshrined in the European Union Treaty.
