Resumen de La hermenéutica estructural: una teoría integradora

Este artículo es una exposición resumida de la propuesta teórica a la que su autora da el nombre de “hermenéutica estructural”. Con origen en sus anteriores trabajos sobre “hermenéutica constructiva”, Wahnón expone aquí las razones por las que habría optado finalmente por esta nueva formulación, la de hermenéutica estructural, que en un principio utilizaba solamente para caracterizar las aportaciones de autores como Barthes, Bajtin o Ricoeur. Apoyándose en la obra de estos pensadores, así como en las de Lotman o Szondi entre otros, la finalidad de la hermenéutica estructural es proseguir la tarea que, con mayor o menor conciencia, iniciaron todos estos precursores. Se trataría, por tanto, de seguir tendiendo puentes entre dos horizontes teóricos supuestamente contrarios o incluso antagónicos: la hermenéutica, por un lado; el estructuralismo, por otro. La autora realiza aquí un original recorrido por diferentes fuentes y períodos del pensamiento literario, desde la estética kantiana a los Cultural Studies pasando por los textos del formalismo ruso, para argumentar en favor de la necesidad de una teoría literaria integradora que reconcilie la irrenunciable concepción hermenéutica de la literatura con las no menos indispensables contribuciones, tanto teóricas como metodológicas, del estructuralismo y la semiótica.

This paper presents an abridged account of what the author calls “structural hermeneutics”. Building on her previous work on “constructive hermeneutics”, the present article explains the reasons for this new nomenclature (“structural hermeneutics”), which had been previously used by the author to refer exclusively to the ideas of thinkers such as Barthes, Bakhtin, or Ricœur. Drawing on the work of these authors, and, in addition, Lotman and Szondi, among others, structural hermeneutics endeavors to continue the task which, had been initiated—in a more or less conscious fashion—by all these forerunners. Therefore, the main goal of structural hermeneutics would consist in bridging the gap between two seemingly opposed or even antagonistic theoretical approaches: hermeneutics, on the one side, and structuralism, on the other side. The present paper traces an original journey across different sources and time periods of literary ideas, ranging from Kantian aesthetics to Russian formalism to Cultural Studies, in order to argue for the necessity of an integrative literary theory capable of bringing together the essential hermeneutic approach to literature and the no less crucial theoretical and methodological contributions of structuralism and semiotics.
