Resumen de Propuesta organizativa para mejorar la adherencia del tratamiento inyectable en pacientes con esquizofrenia

  La esquizofrenia es una enfermedad mental grave que afecta algunas funciones psíquicas superiores. Los expertos consideran, que el tratamiento con un antipsicótico atípico inyectable de larga duración (ILP) administrado cada cuatro semanas, es la estrategia farmacológica de primera elección. El incumplimiento terapéutico del paciente con esquizofrenia alcanza tasas del 50%. Generalmente es la enfermera del Centro de Salud Mental la que administra el ILP, aunque algunos pacientes eligen la enfermera del Centro de Salud. Por norma general, a los pacientes que acuden fuera de su cita programada mensual se les programa para otro día. La mayoría de estos pacientes no acuden a estas citas reprogramadas y por tanto se podría hablar de pacientes “perdidos”. Por ello, y dado el potencial problema de salud, derivado del incumpliendo terapéutico, proponemos atender al paciente en el momento que solicita la visita para serle administrado el ILP a pesar de no tener cita programada.

  Schizophrenia is a serious mental illness that affects some higher psychic functions. Experts consider treatment with a long-acting injectable formulation (LAI) administered every four weeks is the drug strategy of first choice. Noncompliance with patients with schizophrenia reaches rates of 50%. Generally, the nurse from the Mental Health Center administers the LAI, although some patients choose the nurse from Health Primary Center. Generally, patients who come outside of their monthly scheduled appointment are scheduled for another day. Most of these patients will not attend these rescheduled appointments and therefore one could speak of «lost» patients. Therefore, and given the potential health problem, derived from noncompliance with treatment, we propose to attend to the patient at the time he requests the visit to be administered the ILP despite not having a scheduled appointment.
