    Se efectúa un repaso al significado de las transformaciones urbanas sufridas por Barcelona con motivo de los JJ. 00., que rebasan con mucho los equipamientos y servicios directamente ligados con aquéllas. Basándose en la literatura más reciente y en algunas de las aportaciones que distintos especialistas efectúan en este número de CIUDAD Y TERRITORIO (Busquets, Ribas Hera, Herce,...) se evalúa el papel del planeamiento urbanístico y los efectos en la reestructuración del espacio central de la metrópolis y en su periferia inmediata.

    The paper begins by reviewing the meaning of the changes undergone by Barcelona for the '92 Olympic Games and holds that these went far and beyond such as this event could be said to have called for in itself: Making use of that which most recently has been published under this heading along with some of the contributions to this number of this magazine (Busquets, Ribas, Piera, Herce...,) the part played by city planning in this process as a whole is closely considered as are the effects of what happened upon the restructuring of the metropolitan heart and its adjoining districts.
