Resumen de La cárcel como metáfora de la experiencia de lo trágico en el cine de Lars von Trier

En este artículo explicaremos la conexión que encontramos entre la angustia protestante -definida por Lutero y Kierkegaard- y la experiencia de lo trágico desde una perspectiva moderna. Con este fin, llevaremos a cabo un análisis textual de algunas de las secuencias de la Trilogía Hipnótica (1984-1991) del cineasta danés Lars von Trier. Su elección obedece principalmente a la crítica a la sociedad occidental que contienen sus films liberando lo trágico a través del dolor y de aquello a lo director denomina la estética de “lo feo”. Bajo estas premisas reflexionaremos sobre la oportunidad que tenemos en la experiencia trágica como uno de los elementos que nos permiten una reconciliación con lo pretérito y por lo tanto con nosotros mismos.

In this article we will explain the con-nection that we find between Protestant anguish -defined by Luther and Kierkegaard- and the experience of the tragic from a modern perspective. To this end, we will carry out a textual analysis of some of the sequences of the Hypnotic Trilogy (1984-1991) by the Danish filmmaker Lars von Trier. The reason we have chosen his work is mainly due to the criticism of Western society that his films contain, the release of tragedy through pain and from what the director calls the aesthetics of “the ugly”. Under these premises we will reflect on the opportunity we have in the tragic experience as one of the elements that allow us a reconciliation with the past and therefore with ourselves.
