The aim of this research was to study the relation between motor decision making of basketball players and the defensive systems ordered by the coach. The sample was composed of 13 basketball players in the season 2010-2011, ranging in age from 18 to 28 years (M = 22,3, DT = 3,12). An observational tool (SOBD) was built adhoc and its optimization included a strict control of the quality of data based on Generalizability Theory. The data were analyzed following non-parametric χ2 (chi-square) test. The results showed difference between defensive systems and decision making. It was registered player with the ball got better behaviors than player without it.
