A tradución de A peste: un clásico que nos interpela máis ca nunca

    Assuming the fact that Albert Camus’ The Plague is a classic - absent in the Galician literary system until its publication in 2018 by Editorial Hugin and Munin - the translators will broach the difficult question oftransferring the different tones and discursive elements of the novel without losing the functionality they have in the original language. In this sense, they will provide reading keys that shed light on the text and have been taken into account in their translation. They will next draw attention to the analysis of the characters, each one of which embody a particular and representative attitude of the human being towards tragedy; they will also point out the connections between The Plague and other Camus’ texts, which reveal how the novel, from fiction, complements what is expressed in different essays by him. The translators will focus on the role played by female characters, according to their presence or absence, and will conclude by emphasizing the allegorical and polysemic connotations of plague as a concept.

    Partindo da consideración de A peste de Albert Camus como clásico, ausente no sistema literario galego até a súa publicación en 2018 pola editorial Hugin e Munin, os tradutores abordan neste artigo o reto que supuxo transvasar os diferentes tons e elementos discursivos da novela sen perderen a funcionalidade que posúen na lingua orixinal. Deste xeito, achegan claves de lectura que iluminan o texto e que tiveron en conta na súa translación. Detéñense na análise dos personaxes, que encarnan cadansúa actitude representativa do ser humano ao se veren enfrontados á traxedia, e apuntan as conexións existentesentre A peste e outros textos de Camus, os cales revelan como a novela, dende a ficción, complementa o expresado en diferentes ensaios. Reparan así mesmo no papel das personaxes femininas segundo a súa presenza ou a súa ausencia. Conclúen salientando as connotacións alegóricas e polisémicas do concepto peste.
