"Me voy a curar, quiero demostrárselo a la ciencia": Relato biográfico de paciente con cáncer

    Un diagnóstico de cáncer es una noticia impactante y cuando a un paciente se le comunica que le ha sido detectado un tumor, muchas veces, no sabe cómo enfrentarse a la situación. Se suelen atravesar distintas fases para adaptarse y vivir esta nueva realidad. En la fase de negación se suele asumir que, en alguna parte, se cometió un error, que los informes médicos están equivocados, que se tardó mucho en el diagnóstico, etc. Todo ello lleva a movilizar a los pacientes, y a la familia, a buscar segundas opiniones y alternativas terapéuticas. En definitiva, a encontrar otro diagnostico que le sea más favorable y confirme el error. Nuestra entrevistada, L, actualmente, se enfrenta a un diagnóstico de cáncer incurable, a una situación de fracaso intestinal y a la necesidad de nutrición parenteral domiciliaria. Los principales objetivos asistenciales: aliviar los síntomas, procurar que permanezca el mayor tiempo posible en su casa de forma autónoma y proporcionarle un acceso venoso seguro para la nutrición. La informante nos narra sus vivencias, sentimientos y experiencias desde el comienzo de la enfermedad hasta la etapa actual. Relata, cómo ha sido el proceso de la detección de la enfermedad, cómo se ha ido adaptando a las diversas fases y cómo ha adquirido los conocimientos y las habilidades para su autocuidado y su autonomía. La adaptación espiritual es uno de los medios más poderosos que posee para hacer frente a su enfermedad.

    A cancer diagnosis is a shocking news and when a patient communicates that a tumor has been detected you, many times does not know how to deal with the situation. They are often going through different phases to adapt and live this new reality. The denial phase, usually assume that somewhere be made a mistake, that the medical records are wrong, that it took much time to diagnosis, etc. All this leads to mobilize patients and family, to seek second opinions and alternatives. In short, to find other diagnostics that it is more favourable to you and confirm the error. Our informant L is currently facing a diagnosis of incurable cancer, a situation of intestinal failure and the need for home parenteral nutrition. The main health care objectives: alleviate the symptoms, try to stay as long as possible in your home autonomously and provide secure venous access for nutrition. Our informant tells us his experiences, feelings, and experiences since the beginning of the disease up to the present stage. She tells how has been the process of detection of the disease, how it has adapted to the various phases and how has acquired the knowledge and skills to their self-care and autonomy. Spiritual adaptation is one of the most powerful means to cope with their disease.
