Resumen de Pupil attitudes under conditions of machine instruction

Martyn Roebuck

  • Six electromechanical teaching machines were used by the staff and pupils of a Glasgow secondary school over a period of three months. Staff and pupil attitude measures showed significantly different reactions by different class groupings and by girls, boys and staff. The pupils and the staff contrasted in their attitudes to self‐pacing and noise. A homogeneous group of boys reacted significantly against the mechanical faults and against the machine when directly compared with a teacher though they were generally in favour of machine instruction.
