Resumen de El jazz a finales de la Segunda República española: el Hot Club de Barcelona. (1935-1936)

Este artículo estudia los inicios del Hot Club de Barcelona, fundado en abril de 1935, como mediador activo tanto en la consolidación del jazz en España como en los procesos de modernización del país durante el último bienio de la Segunda República. A través del análisis de sus revistas oficiales Música viva y Jazz magazine, así como de otra prensa musical y de periódicos generalistas, se presta especial atención a los ideales estéticos del Hot Club, sus actividades musicales y sus relaciones con otras asociaciones coetáneas.

Artikulu honek Bartzelonako Hot Clubaren hastapenak aztertzen ditu, 1935eko api-rilean sortua, Bigarren Errepublikaren azken biurtekoan bitarteko aktibo izan baitzen Espainian jazza sendotzeko eta herrialdearen modernizazio prozesuan. Música viva eta Jazz magazine aldizkari ofizialak eta bestelako musika-prentsa eta egunkari jeneralistak aztertuz, arreta berezia eskaintzen zaie Hot Clubaren ideal estetikoei, bertako musika-jarduerei eta beste elkarte garaikideekin harremanei.

This paper explores the beginnings of the Hot Club of Barcelona, founded in April 1935, as an active mediator both in the consolidation of jazz in Spain and in the processes of modernisation of this country during the last biennium of the Second Republic. Through the analysis of its official publications, Música Viva and Jazz magazine, as well as other musical press and generalist newspapers, special attention will be paid to the aesthetic ideals of the Hot Club, its musical activities and its relations with other contemporary national and foreign associations.
