    Pocas son las fuentes documentales de la Edad Moderna que nos aporten tanta y tan variada información sobre la evolución urbana de Mondoñedo como los inventarios e interrogatorios realizados para cuantificar y calcular el valor de las propiedades de realengo entre los siglos XVI y XVII. Este interés por conocer la cantidad de bienes que la corona tenía en propiedad e incluso valorar los que estaban en manos de otros propietarios como la Iglesia y los terratenientes rurales, responden, por supuesto, a una nueva necesidad recaudatoria. Son famosos los apeos realizados a mediados del s. XVI de los bienes de la Iglesia y, en este caso, los que a finales de siglo y principios del siguiente se formalizan para conocer cuáles y cuántos eran los oficios de realengo existentes en cada villa y ciudad. En este artículo analizaremos el interrogatorio de 1616 llevado a cabo para este fin en concreto y presentaremos una breve conclusión con su análisis histórico y su transcripción completa

    Few are the documentary sources of the modern age that give us information so plentiful and so varied about the urban evolution of Mondoñedo as the inventories and enquiries carried out to quantify and calculate the value of the realengo properties in the 16th and 17th centuries. This interest in knowing not only the amount of assets that the crown had in property but also the value of those assets that were in the hands of other owners, such as the church and rural landowners, reflects a need for new forms of taxation. The apeos made in the middle of the 16th century of the wealth of the church are famous, and, in this case, those made at the end of the 16th century and the beginning of the following century are analyzed in an effort to ascertain the nature and the quantity of the existing realengo properties in each village and city. In this article we will analyze the enquiry of 1616, carried out for this purpose in particular, and we will present a brief conclusion with an historical analysis and its complete transcription.
