El autor afronta en este artículo el que a su juicio representa el tema primordial, principal y principial de la teología: el problema de Dios, en sí mismo y en su relación con el problema del Universo. Así, reflexiona acerca de la existencia de Dios, su naturaleza y la creación del Universo. Y lo hace teniendo en cuenta el progresivo conocimiento que acerca del Universo nos ofrece la ciencia, fundamentalmente la física. Alcanza la conclusión de que la visión cosmológica actual de la física se manifiesta en coherencia con la existencia de Dios como Ser Supremo, creador del Universo, y con el mensaje apodíctico del Génesis: « [...] y descansó Dios de cuanto había creado y hecho». El Universo, desde la creación funciona solo, por sí mismo, desde sí mismo, sin necesidad de «arreglos» o modificaciones ni de los componentes presentes, ni de las leyes que lo gobiernan. El Universo es intrínsecamente dinámico, y Dios «descansó» porque había hecho todo bien.

The author deals with the problem of God itself and in its relation to the problem of the Universe, which represents for him the primary and overriding theme of theology. His reflections point to the existence of God, his nature and the creation of the Universe. In doing so he takes into account the progressive knowledge that science, physics above all, displays about the Universe. He reaches the conclusion that the current cosmological vision of physics is consistent with the existence of God as Supreme Being, creator of the Universe, and with the apodictic message of Genesis: « [...] and God rested from what he had created and done». From creation on the Universe works by itself, from itself, alone, without the need for «arrangements» or modifications of its components, nor the laws that govern it.
The Universe is intrinsically dynamic, and God «rested» because he had done everything right.
