    En este trabajo se estudia la ópera Il fantastico cavaliere Don Chisciotte della Manciade Matteo Fania y Giovanni Privitera. Tras un repaso por la historia de la recepción del Quijoteen el género en Italia, se comentan tanto el libreto como otros aspectos de la obra y se analizan los procesos de adaptación de la novela cervantina al texto en cuestión. Finalmente, se plantea una reflexión sobre la interpretación de la obra clásica española que subyace en Il fantastico cavaliere Don Chisciotte della Manciay la relevancia de esta pieza en la historia de la recepción quijotesca.

    In this article we study the opera Il fantastico cavaliere Don Chisciotte della Mancia, by Matteo Fania and Giovanni Privitera. After a review of the history of the reception of Don Quixote in the Italian opera, both the libretto and other aspects of the piece, as well as the processes of adaptation of the Cervantine novel, are analysed. Finally, we reflect on the interpretation of Don Quixotethat underlies this recreationand its relevance in the history of the reception of Cervantes‘s novel.
