Durante los primeros siglos del I milenio a.C. se renuevan los contactos entre Oriente y la región del Egeo. En esta época, Asiria conquistó los territorios de Siria, Palestina y Sureste de Anatolia integrándolos en el edificio administrativo y económico de su Imperio.
Sin embargo, necesitó a las ciudades comerciales fenicias y los emporios del N de Siria y Cilicia para poder abastecerse de materias primas. Es en estos puertos de comercio en donde se llevaron a cabo un intercambio motivos culturales que contó con la participación de las aristocracias griegas, las cuales se acomodaron a los nuevos gustos que eran proclamados por sus correspondientes élites asirias.

During firsts centuries of the 1st millennium B.C. contacts between Orient and Aegean region are renewed. In this time, Assyria conquered the lands of Syria, Palestine and the southeast of Anatolia, assimilating them in the administrative and economical building of its Empire. However, it needed the commercial Phoenician cities and north-Syrian and Cilician emporiums in order to supply itself of raw materials. It is in these ports of commerce where an exchange of cultural motifs was carried out that counted on the participation of Greece aristocracies, which became accustomed to new tastes which were proclaimed by their Assyrian counterparts.
