Resumen de Noves exploracions a l’avenc d’en Xim (Pollença, Mallorca)

  L’any 1993 el Grup Nord de Mallorca va organitzar un campament dins la possessió de Míner on fou trobat l’avenc d’en Xim, entre d’altres. Es va explorar i publicar aquell mateix any. Amb el descobriment d’aquesta cavitat, que superava els 200 m de fondària, es feia evident el potencial espeleològic de l’illa. Des d’aleshores ençà l’avenc d’en Xim ha estat motiu de moltes visites esportives i fotogràfiques però restava pendent documentar algunes zones que ja feia uns anys que estaven explorades. La intenció inicial, a l’hora de reprendre la tasca, era afegir un nou pou (el pou Nou), el qual no estava representat enlloc, situat a la part fonda de l’avenc, però quan hi estàvem fent feina en vàrem trobar un altre, el pou de l’Àngel, i després un brancal en tendència horitzontal que hem anomenat el canyó d’en Rafel. En aquest punt, i posats a treballar, vàrem decidir fer una prospecció integral de la cavitat la qual ens ha donat resultats ben profitosos. A més dels pous de la part inferior de l’avenc, s’han descobert noves vies laterals al pou Principal i s’ha aprofitat per documentar les sales superiors. Tot plegat ha suposat un desenvolupament de més de 600 m de recorregut compost per un entramat de nous pous i conductes de diferent naturalesa.

  The Avenc d’en Xim was discovered in 1993 by the Grup Nord de Mallorca during a camp in a zone called Míner Petit near the Puig Tomir. That same year, the cave was explored and the results were published. The finding of this cavity, which exceeds 200 meters deep, made evident the speleological potential of the island. Since then, the Avenc d’en Xim has been the subject of many photographic and sporting visits, but there were several areas awaiting an accurate exploration. That is why, a few years ago, it was explored again. The original intention, when we resumed the task, was to explore a new pit (Pou Nou) located in the deep part of the abyss, which was not represented anywhere. However, while we were working there, we found another new pit: Pou de l’Àngel. Later, we came across a horizontal branch line which we named Canyó d’en Rafel. It was then when we decided to make a comprehensive survey of the cavity which has given us very fruitful results. In addition to the pits at the bottom of the chasm, we discovered new lateral tracts at the Pou Principal and we took the opportunity to document the upper chambers. All in all, it supposes a development of more than 600 meters long consisting of a network of pits and passages of different natures.
