    En las últimas décadas hemos asistido a un continuo crecimiento cuantitativo del turismo a escala global que ha conllevado importantes retos para garantizar su sostenibilidad. Una realidad que ha supuesto la reformulación de las estrategias y los procesos tradicionales de desarrollo territorial. El presente estudio se centra en el destino maduro litoral pontevedrés de Sanxenxo donde un desarrollo urbanístico incontrolado ha determinado el modelo turístico imperante. El tratamiento de este crecimiento urbanístico turístico se erige en un elemento clave para lograr un desarrollo turístico sostenible. El principal objetivo ha sido la realización de un diagnóstico inicial de la realidad turística de Sanxenxo que posibilite determinar líneas estratégicas de actuación territorial sostenibles dirigidas a mejorar su competitividad. La metodología utilizada se ha fundamentado en el manejo de técnicas tanto de carácter cualitativo como cuantitativo, donde ha jugado un papel determinante la realización de cuestionarios semiestructurados dentro del método Delphi. Un trabajo que nos posibilita afirmar que el proceso de gobernanza en la elaboración de la estrategia de actuación territorial de un destino turístico consolidado como Sanxenxo debe incidir en la cualificación de la oferta a partir de la puesta en valor de sus componentes territoriales desde el principio de sostenibilidad.

    In recent decades we have seen a continuous quantitative growth of tourism on a global scale that has entailed major challenges to ensure its sustainability. A reality that has involved the reformulation of traditional strategies and processes of territorial development. This study focuses on the mature Pontevedra coastal destination of Sanxenxo where an uncontrolled urban development has determined the prevailing tourism model. The treatment of this urban tourism growth is a key element to achieve a sustainable tourism development. The main objective has been the realization of an initial diagnosis of the tourist reality of Sanxenxo that makes it possible to determine strategic lines of sustainable territorial action aimed at improving its competitiveness. The methodology used has been based on the management of both qualitative and quantitative techniques, where the production of semi-structured questionnaires within the Delphi method has played a determining role. A work that enables us to affirm that the process of governance in the elaboration of the strategy of territorial action of a consolidated tourist destination like Sanxenxo must have an impact on the qualification of the offer from the putting in value of its components from the principle of sustainability.
