    Los Smart Ports se apoyan en la tecnología para dinamizar y modernizar el transporte marítimo, lo que permite mejorar los servicios portuarios, satisfaciendo de la mejor manera posible las necesidades de los usuarios. La tendencia de los puertos es convertirse en smart ports pero esto sólo puede conseguirse con una estrategia a largo plazo pues se deben coordinar muchas acciones que permitan aumentar la seguridad, mejorar la eficiencia y hacer al puerto sostenible. Sólo aquellos puertos capaces de adaptarse al cambio podrán subsistir en un futuro no muy lejano. Por tanto, la necesidad de los puertos de hacerse más inteligentes está modificando su operativa, por lo que en el presente artículo se lleva a cabo un análisis del sistema portuario español, evaluando los diferentes puertos en base al nuevo concepto "Smart Port". Para ello se definen una serie de indicadores y variables de medición que permitan cuantificar diferentes aspectos técnicos, tanto cualitativos como cuantitativos, para reflejar de la manera más objetiva y completa posible la adecuación y la consecución por parte de los puertos estudiados de las características y objetivos asociados al nuevo concepto.

    The so-called Smart Ports are based on technology to dynamize and modernize maritime transport. They allow to improve port services, satisfying in the best possible way users' needs. The trend is for ports is to become smart ones, but this can only be achieved with a long-term strategy because many actions must be coordinated to increase safety, improve efficiency and make the port sustainable. Only those ports that are able to adapt to change will be able to survive in the not too distant future. Therefore, the need for ports to become more intelligent is by modifying their operations. Thus this article carries out an analysis of the Spanish port system, evaluating the different ports according to the new "Smart Port'' concept. To this end, a series of indicators and measurement variables are defined to let different technical aspects, both qualitative and quantitative, be quantified in arder to reflectas objectively and completely as possible the degree of adaptation and achievement by the ports studied of the characteristics and objectives associated with the new concept.
