El transhumanismo o el fin de las esencias: el (bio)conservadurismo y su reminiscencia aristotélica

    El transhumanismo o el movimiento a favor del mejoramiento humano a través de la tecnología vive, actualmente, un momento álgido. Los avances en Inteligencia Artificial e ingeniería genética permiten que soñemos con seres capaces de vencer a la muerte y poseer capacidades hasta ahora desconocidas. Sin embargo, en este artículo veremos que no todo el mundo está de acuerdo con estas ideas y hay quienes consideran las promesas del transhumanismo más como pesadillas que como sueños. Estos son los (bio)conservadores. Los (bio)conservadores consideran que las mejoras prometidas por el transhumanismo conllevarán el fin de la especie humana. Frente al transhumanismo, los (bio)conservadores defienden la conservación y protección de la esencia y la naturaleza humana. También se rebelan contra la manipulación ilimitada del ser humano y la limitación de estas prácticas a aquellas contenidas en la esencia humana. Todo ello les otorga cierta reminiscencia aristotélica en la que muchos de ellos se amparan y la cual vale la pena estudiar.

    Transhumanism or the movement in favor of human enhancement through technology is at its peak moment. Progress in Artificial Intelligence and genetic engineering allow us to dream of becoming beings who are able to defeat death and possess skills unknown until now. However, in this article we will see that not everyone agrees with these ideas and that there are people to whom transhumanist promises are more of a nightmare than a dream. These people are called (bio)conservatives. (Bio) conservatives consider that the enhancement promises made by transhumanist will carry us to the end of the human specie. Against transhumanist, (bio)conservatives defend conservation and protection of the essence and human nature. They also rebel against the unlimited tampering with human nature and defend the limitation of these kind of practices to the ones restrained by human essence. All these characteristics give (bio)conservatism certain aristotelian reminiscence in which many of them shelter and that is worth studying carefully.
