Cada vez hay más interés por indagar sobre las élites como lo evidencia el enorme crecimiento de la investigación científica en torno al tema, así como la venta de libros sobre el poder económico y político. América Latina es una de las regiones donde, tal vez, más poder y libertad tienen las élites debido a modelos fiscales regresivos, débiles instituciones reguladoras, y redes clientelares. Por ello, el estudio de las élites en América Latina es un requisito indispensable para impulsar la sociología de las élites.

There is increasing interest in inquiring about elites as evidenced by the enormous growth of scientific research around the topic, as well as the sale of books on economic and political power. Latin America is one of the regions where, perhaps, more power and freedom have elites due to regressive fiscal models, weak regulatory institutions, and crony networks. Therefore, Latin American elites’ studies is an essential requirement to foster the sociology of elites.
