  • The new stress inversion method proposed by Lisle et al. (2001) allows us to analyse 15 samples of non-striated fracture surfaces in Late Miocene carbonates and Plio-Pleistocene clastic deposits near to the Concud fault (southern Jiloca graben, eastern Spain). The results show an extensional stress field where the primary s3 trajectories trend ENE and undergo strong deflections, many local s3 axes being either orthogonal or parallel to the Concud fault. This stress field was active during the whole period of activity of the fault (Late Pliocene to Middle Pleistocene). The consistency ot the present results with the regional picture gives support to the inversion method and demonstrates its application to young, poorly-indurated rocks, where "gaps" of stress information usually exist owing to the lack of striated faults
