    El destacado papel desempeñado por los jesuitas de la asistencia de España en contra de la adopción de estatutos en su orden en la primera mitad del siglo XVI, tiene su continuidad en la primera mitad del siglo XVII. Como consecuencia de la participación de destacados jesuitas en los gobiernos de Felipe III y Felipe IV, se muestran a favor de la reforma que desde la esfera pública se pretende hacer de los estatutos. Los memoriales y posicionamientos al respecto de los padres Montemayor, Valdés, Salazar y Andrade son suficiente significativa de su propósito de reformar unos estatutos que dificultaban la convivencia social y apartaba a hombres capaces para la conservación y restauración de la Monarquía Hispánica.

    The prominent role played by the Jesuits of Spain against the adoption of statutes in this Order during the first half of the sixteenth century had continuity in the first half of the seventeenth century. As a consequence of the participation of prominentJesuits in the governments of Felipe III and Felipe IV, they showed in favor of the reform of the statutes intended to make from the public sphere. The memorials and positions in this regard of Fathers Montemayor, Valdés, Salazar and Andrade were very significant of their purpose to reform some statutes that hampered social coexistence and separated capable men for the conservation and restoration of the Hispanic Monarchy.
