Resumen de La arenisca del Real Monasterio de Santa Marfa de Sijena (Huesca): caracterización petrográfica y localización de canteras

A petrological survey carried out on early building stones from "Santa Marla de Sijena" Monastery indicates the use of different sandstones from the same geological local source. Three varieties were distinguished for rough masonry, but with a random distribution. They are calcareous litharenites with different range of grain sizes but all with homogeneous mineralogical components. These lithotypes were also identified on the Miocene fluvial sediments near the Monastery, where individual boulders of considerable size were naturally gathered.
