Resumen de Relacionando la comunidad actual y subfósil de quironómidos. Reconstrucción de los hábitats lacustres en el ibón de la Basa de la Mora (Pirineos Centrales) en el Holoceno

  • A first characterization of the current Chironomidae larvae (Insecta: Diptera) assemblages of Basa de la Mora lake (42º 32’ N, 0º 19’ E, 1914 m a.s.l.) was done to improve and calibrate the paleoreconstruction of the lake, and to infer lake habitat changes throughout the Holocene. The Modern Analogue Technique (MAT) method relates the actual community, defined from the species abundance matrix and an environmental variable (which is the object of the inference), and the past community, defined from the species abundance matrix downcore. The scores of the first component (PC1) were used as representative of the environmental variable (dominant habitat) to be inferred. The application of the MAT has allowed identifying two periods of lake productivity increase through the Holocene: i) Since 2800 cal. yrs BP, which coincides with the first documented human occupation of the area, and ii) the last four centuries, which could be related to human exploitation and stockbreeding activities.
