    La decoración mural en el exterior de los enclaves urbanos es algo que se remonta a las épocas de los antiguos romanos pero que ha seguido desarrollándose a lo largo de todas las etapas históricas en diferentes civilizaciones, para mayor ornato de los inmuebles públicos y para decoración y ostentación de los privados. Desgraciadamente no han llegado demasiados ejemplos hasta nuestros días, a causa de su degradación y perdida, bien sea producida por agentes meteorológicos o por causas antrópicas. En estas últimas décadas se ha visto una gran proliferación de decoraciones murales en diferentes recintos urbanos, existiendo importantes ejemplos en destacadas ciudades de nuestro orbe. Estas manifestaciones plásticas han representado bellos trompe l’oeils - o trampantojos-, con claros ideales estéticos, o bien han sido murales realizados en traseras de edificios cuya finalidad, más que artística era disimuladora de los defectos de los inmuebles o para cubrir los paramentos que dejaban tras los derribos. También han existido y existen otras manifestaciones pictóricas sobre los paramentos urbanos más reivindicativas y críticas con los estados y las políticas, como el muro de Berlín y llegando incluso a la subcultura un tanto underground de los grafitis que se encuentran repartidos en las urbes actuales y que han buscado como soporte no solo los muros y otros soportes arquitectónicos sino incluso los propios vagones de metro. Bueno pues la ciudad de Murcia y sus alrededores tiene un amplia y extensa muestra de grafitis y murales de gran interés tanto artístico como social. Muchas de estas obras han sido realizadas de forma ilegal y llevadas a cabo en muchos casos con nocturnidad y alevosía al incumplir los más elementales reglamentos urbanísticos y utilizar como soportes algunos muros cuyos propietarios, tanto públicos como privados, no eran conscientes de ello. Y así han ido proliferando en la zona multitud de grafitis, murales y también claro de pintores que se han ido sumando a estas iniciativas artísticas. Ellos incluso se han ido agrupando y formando diferentes colectivos plásticos y han comenzado a realizar obras colectivas, por lo que entre todos ellos han sumado sinergias y así ha ido surgiendo una importante representación de una cultura urbana, que le ha abierto las puertas incluso al Museo de Bellas Artes de Murcia Mubam y a importantes encargos oficiales. Paradigmática sin duda ha sido la reciente presencia del famoso muralista y grafitero internacional Kobra y la obra que ha realizado en el centro cultural Puertas de Castilla de Murcia.     The mural decoration on the outside of the urban enclaves is something that goes back to the times of the ancient Romans but has continued to develop throughout all the historical stages in different civilizations, for greater decoration of public buildings and for decoration and ostentation of the private ones. Unfortunately, not many examples have arrived to this day, because of their degradation and loss, whether produced by meteorological agents or anthropogenic causes. In recent decades there has been a great proliferation of mural decorations in different urban areas, with important examples in prominent cities of our world. These plastic manifestations have represented beautiful trompe l'oeils -or trompe-l'oeil-, with La ciudad: imágenes e imaginarios – Libro de actas (ISBN: 978-84-16829-44-6) - 311 - clear aesthetic ideals, or they have been murals made in the backs of buildings whose purpose, rather than art, was to conceal the defects of the buildings or to cover the walls that they left behind the demolitions. There have also been and there are other pictorial manifestations on the most vindictive and critical urban paraments with states and policies, such as the Berlin Wall and even reaching the somewhat underground subculture of the graffiti that are scattered in the current cities and that They have sought as support not only the walls and other architectural supports but even the subway cars themselves. Well, the city of Murcia and its surroundings has a wide and extensive sample of graffiti and murals of great artistic and social interest. Many of these works have been carried out illegally and carried out in many cases with nocturnal and treachery to breach the most elementary urban regulations and use as supports some walls whose owners, both public and private, were not aware of it. And so there have been proliferating in the area many graffiti, murals and also clear of painters who have been adding to these artistic initiatives. They have even been grouping and forming different plastic collectives and have begun to carry out collective works, so among all of them they have added synergies and thus an important representation of an urban culture has emerged, which has opened the doors even to the Museum of Fine Arts of Murcia Mubam and important official commissions. Paradigmatic has undoubtedly been the recent presence of the famous international muralist and graffiti artist Kobra and the work he has done at the Puertas de Castilla cultural center in Murcia. The different media, the different techniques, materials and artists will be discussed at length in the article
