En la cuenca del Vilcanota de producen una gran variedad de producto agrícolas propios de Puno, de igual manera de desarrolla la actividad pecuaria, como la ganadería. Hidrográficamentela cuenca del río Vilcanota pertenece a la vertiente del Amazonas. Se origina de la confluencia de los ríos Vilcanota, Yanatile y Yavero (Mapacho) y tiene una superficie total de 58734,92 Km2. Desde su nacimiento el río transcurre a través de las provincias de Canchis, Quispicanchi, Paucartambo, Calca, y la Convención en el departamento del Cusco y termina en Ucayali, todo esto perteneciente al Perú, luego de haber recorrido alrededor de 938,30 km. Políticamente, se ubica en la región de Cusco, abarcando las provincias de Acomayo, Anta, Calca, Canas, Canchis, Cusco, La Convención, Paucartambo, Quispicanchi, y Atalaya (Departamento de Ucayali). Abarca un total de 71 distritos. El objetivo de esta investigación bibliográfica fue describir la cuenca del río Vilcanota desde una perspectiva agrícola y elaborar una propuesta de manejo agroecológico de la misma. Se realizó una revisión sistemática de documentos de instituciones estatales del Perú, así como libros, y artículos científicos, posteriormente se procedió a sintetizar la información para realizar una breve descripción y propuesta de manejo agroecológico de la misma

In the Vilcanota basin of producers a great variety of agricultural products from Puno, in the same way to develop the livestock activity, such as livestock.In hydrographic terms, the Vilcanota river basin belongs to the Amazon slope. It originates from the confluence of the Vilcanota, Yanatile and Yavero (Mapacho) rivers and has a total area of 58,734.92 km2. From its source, the river flows through the provinces of Canchis, Quispicanchi, Paucartambo, Calca, and the Convention in the department of Cusco and ends in Ucayali, all of this belonging to Peru, after having traveled around 938.30 km. Politically, it is located in the Cusco region, encompassing the provinces of Acomayo, Anta, Calca, Canas, Canchis, Cusco, La Convencion, Paucartambo, Quispicanchi, and Atalaya (Department of Ucayali). It covers a total of 71 districts. The objective of this bibliographic research was to describe the Vilcanota river basin from an agricultural perspective and to prepare a proposal for its agro-ecological management. A systematic review of documents from Peruvian state institutions, as well as books and scientific articles, was carried out, and the information was subsequently synthesized to make a brief description and proposal for agroecological management.
