    La manifiesta imposibilidad de plasmar los sentidos en sus obras obligó a los artistas a idear una serie de recursos plásticos con la intención de trasmitir al espectador el mensaje de sus creaciones de la manera más clara posible. En primer lugar, en este trabajo buscamos las raíces de los procedimientos artísticos empleados en el arte para representar el sonido. A continuación, realizamos una aproximación a los recursos expresivos empleados a lo largo de la Historia del Arte hasta el siglo XVII, deteniéndonos sobre todo en la pintura y el grabado creados a partir del Concilio de Trento en España. Igualmente, localizamos y analizamos algunas de las obras en las que se encuentran. Al mismo tiempo, indagamos tanto en la literatura artística como en la devocional para documentar la existencia, o en su caso la ausencia, de recomendaciones para su materialización.

    The manifest impossibility of capturing the senses in his works forced the artists to devise a series of plastic resources intended to convey to the viewer the message of his creations in the clearest way possible. First, in this paper we look for the roots of the art procedures employed in the art to represent the sound. Then we study the expressive resources used throughout art history until the seventeenth century, stopping especially in the Spanish painting created from the Council of Trent. Similarly, we locate and analyze some of the works in which they find themselves. At the same time, we investigate both artistic and devotional literature to document the existence, or possibly the absence of recommendations for its materialization.
