    La idea representativa que tiene una comunidad sobre sí misma deviene de un tiempo fuera del tiempo y ejerce su influencia sobre un grupo y sobre un espacio definido. En el caso de la isla de Gran Canaria podemos apreciar que tales cuestiones generan cierta problemática, la cual no reside precisamente en las representaciones o en la identidad en sí, sino en saber analizar, comprender, manejar y enseñar convenientemente el sentido de las mismas. Interpretando nuestra realidad desde un punto de vista crítico, la identidad cultural grancanaria ha experimentado muchos cambios desde su conquista hasta la actualidad, los cuales han influido en la psicología (conducta) de sus habitantes y por ende en la imagen de la misma; en cómo se la vio, visto y se la ve.

    The representative idea a community has of itself evolves into a time out of time and has an influence on a group in a defined space. In the case of the island of Gran Canaria we can notice that such matters create a certain quandary which is not based on the representations or the identity themselves, but on knowing how to analyse, how to understand, how to handle and how to teach their meaning conveniently. From a critical point of view of the interpretation of our reality, the cultural Grancanarian identity has undergone several changes from its conquest to this day; these changes have influenced both the psychology (behaviour) of its inhabitants and therefore its image in the past and nowadays.
